Mr and Miss Gretsa University Gala 2018The event that marked an era of a new king and queen of fashion and beauty finally came. The gala night hosted hundreds of visitors and students entertained by Kenya's top artist Kaligraph Jones and Churchill Show Comedian Owago Onyiro. The university was main events sponsor in partnership with Sagret Group of Hotels, Darling and Focus TV who did a live broadcast of the event on Television. Winners were crowned with gift hampers and price money.

Sponsored by the university and other collaborative partners, the students were entertained to a night of a lifetime memory. Top Kenyan celebrities like Timmy TDat entertained the guests and students to a colorful night.

KAKAMEGA DRAMA AND MUSIC FESTIVALThe annual Music festivals group departed for Kakamega on Friday 14 th July 2017 to contest in the 2017 year’s National Music Festivals that was held at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. The group could not hide their joy under the mentor ship and training by one Mr George Mulama, was ambitious to better their performance than last years at the Safaricom Stadium Kasarani. Mr Mulama has been with Drama group since last Semester. The Club has a membership of talented Students from the Drama group and a boost of new members who enrolled in the May-August 2017 Semester intake. The club emerged victorious in the various category's as follows: Men’s Kiswahili choral verse “Hoja Zangu” A solo verse “Samantha” by Mercy Barbra Auma. The Ladies won Class 1120M with “Ufisi”, Gretsa narrowly missed out on the top spot by half a mark with their Kiswahili choral verse “Tuko Ndani ya Benki Kuu” where they came second. "My Vote”, an own composition choral verse under class 1130M, emerged third. This was performed by the ladies, in praise of the Central Bank and the role they play in economic and financial stability. The third place earned them a Ksh 100,000 token from CBK. The final item was a Men’s choral verse “Rhyming Nation” under class 1031M. This was in admiration of a country’s achievement since independence towards realization of Vision 2030. The item came third as it was a proposal for people to live in peace and harmony, equality in resource allocation among countrymen and women without discrimination. Most of Gretsa University’s performances were featured in The Standard Newspaper on Tuesday 18th July 2017 and more items were also highlighted in the Daily Nation on Friday 21 st July 2017.

GRETSA LATEST 2017 COMPUTER LABGretsa University has again upgraded its research and quality education efforts in a state of the art Computer Laboratory for its Computing and Informatics Students. The well airated computer Lab is Bundled with the latest 7th generation processors, DVI projection technology for smarter and faster rendered graphics, Super High Definition Sounds and comfortable sitting zones that will accommodate enough students at an instance. Gretsa University has and always will be on a quest to impart entrepreneurial skills on its students on Research fields like Human Computer Interaction, Mobile Smartphone applications, Artificial Intelligence, Animation and many more. The Vice Chancellor of the university Professor J Kuria has expressed great optimism that the facilities will elevate the students to be change agents and innovators the society really needs.

INTERNATIONAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE 2017The Gretsa International Multidisciplinary Conference took place at the university auditorium on the 6th of November and extended to the 7th of November 2017. Keynote speakers from both the academic and industrial sector were invited to share their experiences. It was all clear that the interactions of individuals with industry as workers, investors and consumers are also changing. This was the context of the conference to look at initiatives to boost industrial competitiveness. The first Keynote speaker Professor Francis Ndungu Kibera began by thanking the management of the university for organizing the conference in terms of preparation and logistics. He noted that the conference was relevant as it was on innovation and sustainable community development. He said that education has a lot of value. He expounded by giving an example from a Chinese philosopher who said that when carrots are plant they are harvested with finality while a mango tree is harvested for some years. Other Keynote speakers were Mr TONNEY MUIRURI MUTUNGU (Specializes in marketing operations and hospitality), Mr JEFF KARIKU (CEO and Digitization Expert Coseke Company), Mr DON VICTOR SIMON (Has an ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION company) and DR. MOSES THIGA (Lecturer Kabarak University Computer Science Department).
